What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Developed by Dr. Emil Vodder and Estrid Vodder, this method of massage supports the movement of lymph fluid through lymphatic vessels. With gentle rhythmic strokes - similar to a pumping motion - in the proper direction lymphatic fluid is encouraged to move toward lymph nodes where toxins and waste can be filtered. Your body relies on movement and manual stimulation to move lymph. Your muscles (and hands!) ARE the pump.
In order to avoid collapsing lymphatic vessels, light pressure is used during treatment. You can expect an oil free and very gentle treatment when booking a manual lymphatic drainage session.
This treatment is ideal for those looking to support their body post-surgery, reduce lymphedema, support their immune system, promote tissue repair, decrease inflammation and even help manage lipedema.
